What to Expect

Understanding a 12 Series.

What is SI?

Structural Integration (SI) is a modality to help unwind poor postural habits that have developed over our life time. Our posture is formed through development, injury, habitual movement, learned behavior, and even chronic sitting. Poor habits can affect the structure and function of our entire body. Improper movement can restrict the “fabric” of our structure otherwise known as fascia. Our fascia is a very important type of connected tissue, the fascial system holds the “shape” of us, it needs to be able to respond to both internal and external life. Structural Integration is based on the work of Dr. Ida P. Rolf. Ph.D. This type of body work involves assessment of gait, breath, and movement. The ultimate goal of SI is to increase space with in the body, create ease of movement, create better body awareness and proprioception, improve the breath and ultimately become resilient to gravity.

Our First Visit

During your first session, Stephanie will take time to get to know you and your goals. The visit begins with an assessment of your standing posture, walking patterns, and breath to understand how your body moves and where it may be holding tension or compensation.

The session itself is active and collaborative. Unlike a traditional massage, you’ll be guided through simple movements while receiving hands-on work to help create space, improve alignment, and increase body awareness. You’ll move on and off the table as we check in with how your body feels before and after each change.

Your first visit lasts about 90 minutes and sets the foundation for future sessions. Many clients leave feeling more grounded, aware, and curious about how their body moves—often noticing changes right away, with deeper benefits unfolding over time.

What to wear?

To fully assess and work with your body, it’s important that the tissues and their relationships above and below can be clearly seen and accessed. Please wear comfortable underwear and loose-fitting shorts, or a bathing suit (a two-piece for women) along with a sports bra if needed.

Avoid tight clothing such as spandex or bike shorts, as these can limit access to the tissue and affect the quality of the work. Choosing simple, comfortable attire helps ensure a more effective and thorough session.

Three Series:

Not sure about a full 12 series commitment? Try a 3 part series! This series is a great first step into structural integration. You will receive an evaluation the same as a 12 series. This is a nice way to show you what structural integration could feel like, and that change can happen in the body.

Athletic Training Services:

Athletic Trainers are licensed health care professionals who specialize in sports medicine and orthopedic injury care. My services focus on improving function through injury prevention education, accurate assessment, corrective exercise, and effective rehabilitation—helping reduce the risk of re-injury.

I provide comprehensive evaluation and treatment for emergent, acute, and chronic injuries, as well as medical conditions that impact movement and performance. With a strong background in sports medicine, I look beyond the injury itself to understand how your body moves as a whole. Through corrective exercise, functional movement training, and therapeutic rehabilitation, we build strength, efficiency, and resilience—so you can get back to doing the activities you love.
